“REVOLUTION” by Xelaine – Debut Song Review

“I can’t be stopped, it’s only up from here” is the one phrase that stands out to me the most as I bump the debut single, “Revolution” from Los Angeles singer-songwriter Xelaine (Zuh-Lane). This transitional Alternative RnB hit is off of her debut EP “Monument”, due late Winter. I’m not one to be picky about my music choice, but it’s rare that a song gets put on repeat, let alone added to my daily playlist. She does a boundless job combining sounds of EDM & Pop with her electric RnB voice. It takes me to an era where studded jackets and individuality were the trend and Grace Jones was best dressed in suited androgyny.

Music is a powerful thing once the creative process begins, but it becomes unstoppable once the message is clear and touching. Xelaine drops a few inspirational gems in such a subtle manner that the message can be accepted in many different ways. Listening to this track I heard her talking about lovers, friends, enemies and all those who ever told her no. I believe it’s safe to say that anyone would be able to relate.

Xelaine has also recently made her writing debut for Love and HipHop Hollywood’s Lyrica Anderson’s  newest single “Resist”, from her new album “ADIA”. She is working with producers such as A1 Bentley (Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla) and Koji Kali. She is the first release from indie label God Like Recording. “Revolution” is now available on iTunes and the music video is set to premiere November.
