What I’m listening to constantly this week is “I Regret It” by soul singer LaTasha Lee. How did I miss this gem? I was instantly overcome with acute nostalgia as I listen in remembrance of the days of sitting on my parents’ porch and pretending to be a famous singer/ songwriter. Of course that didn’t happen for me but music like this takes me back to those glorious days.
I was totally in love with the studio version until I heard the acoustic version nestled in her Instagram posts. Listen to both and tell us which one is your favorite version.
Lee is a Corpus Christi, Texas-bred, who knew at an early age that she was destined to perform. LaTasha (who cites icons such as Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Sam Cooke, and Otis Redding as influences) knew her sound needed to contain the raw essence of these artists to complete her own vision.
I say well done LaTasha Lee. Keep up the great work…we’re listening.
